Pathway to net zero

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you achieve zero carbon dioxide during the gasification process?

We have a proprietary system for optimising and controlling heat balance throughout the process combined with Ultra-High Temperatures. Research has been done by leading academic institutions on Syngas H2, CO, CO2 and char composition at different temperatures including above standard gasification at 700-900°C. (Dai, B. et al. (2019)  Energy Fuels)

What is the parasitic load for your technology?

10-15%, using Heat Recovery Steam Generation HRSG. Therefore, for a 5MW gasifier around 0.75MW, including ancillary equipment for syngas.

What emission and, therefore, control technologies are used for criteria (PM, NOx, VOC) and toxic air pollutants?

Our technology has no emissions of NOx, Furans, Dioxin or fly ash.

Only non-hazardous slag and clean wastewater are produced as waste streams.

What is the woody biomass feedstock capacity/requirement in dry tons per hour?

NZP technology is modular and with a single 5MW (gasifier power) unit the feedstock requirement is 3.2-3.4 t/ph.

For a 10MW installation, the requirements are 6.1 - 6.7 t/ph. Note there is very little preparation of feedstock!

If your process generates biochar, do you sell it as a marketable product?

Due to efficiency and temperature our precess produces very little waste. Some Slag is produced (metals are tapped off for recycling) but nothing is sent to landfill.

We have partnership discussions with a business to produce decorative tiles from the limited glassy slag that is collected from the process.
